Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Ok, let's start off with the most obvious question you all probably have about this oil: how the heck do you pronounce it?
Say it with me now: "ee-lang ee-lang"
That's it!
So, what is this fancy sounding essential oil used for, what are its benefits and how can you use it to better your health and wellbeing? Read on to get well acquainted with Ylang Ylang Essential Oil and its wonderful properties.
What is Ylang Ylang?
Ylang Ylang is an oil that comes from flowers of the Cananga odorata tree. This tree is native to the tropical climates of India, Malaysia, the Philippines and Northern Queensland in Australia.
Despite the oil of this tree containing an intoxicately beautiful scent, its fruits are smooth and yellowish or black coloured with a flavour that is, well...to be desired. The roots of the tree have been used to make fishing floats and bottle corks.
The oil is distilled in three separate stages from the gorgeous yellow flowers of this tree. Depending on the stage your oil was distilled at it may produced hints of jasmine, neroli, citrus, custard and slightly rubbery aromas.
